Here We Go!
After months of planning, we're finally headed off to see the world!
There have been a lot of snafus and hiccups along the way (ask me about the Indian e-visa website, when you have time for a saga) but we are so excited for all of the adventures we've got planned.
Flying out on Monday night gave us the whole weekend to pack and get the house ready for someone else to live in it for six months, and then a whole extra day. I managed to check off all the must-do items on my to-do list and move on to the nice-if-there's-time tasks.
Packing was challenging, especially because we'll stay in summer through December and then suddenly transition to winter after the New Year. There were long consultations about which clothes each of us should bring and whether we need this or that--apparently we do, because I feel like I could open a CVS with the contents of my toiletries kit! But I'm sure we'll be glad to have them when we need them.
Our first stop is Amsterdam, which will be a new country (#11) for Alice. Jason and I spent a week in the Netherlands in 2019 and I'm looking forward to sharing it with her. She's also going to meet up with a friend she made on our Alaska cruise three years ago, holding up the family tradition of making--and keeping in touch with people we meet in our travels.
Thanks for following along on our Family Gap Year. I'm thrilled to be sharing it with you!
